Latest News!

Hiya!

It has been about 2 weeks since I have blogged. In that time, I have completed one poem and have the basics for the other two.  I'm pretty happy with the poem that I completed. It is about love and what relationships should be based off of. Most of my inspiration has come from seeing couples at the movie theatre or married adults in a family restraunt. Not everyday is a walk in the park.  Whether it is a romantic relationship or a platonic one.  I wrote about how one another should be treated and to cherish the special person in your life that cares and loves you.
Looking into the future, I'd like to finish my two other poems and look into trying to get some published.  Perhaps I could contact the local newspaper.  A family friend of mine has all her poems published in her local newspaper every month.  I may be able to get some guidance from her.  I would also like to figure out a way to share my poems without having to type it up in my blog.  I'm going to try to add a link that has a folder of some sort with all of my writings in it for people to view.

Poetry Time! (Going Against the Wind)

Hello Viewer's!

Last week I was discussing how my creative side felt a little strained. However, it is a new week and I have just written my first poem!  I'm excited to share it with you.  It could use some tweeking and I might decide to add more to it later in the year.  As you may notice, it is my rough draft.  On the other hand, I hope that you may feel some sort of connection. I want to be able to get my point across by keeping things short and sweet. Simplicity is key!
The poem which I will have typed out for you to view below is not necessarily about one thing.  In relation to my personal thoughts, it is about a situation which whom I have experienced with someone.  On a more generalized note, I would say that the poem was inspired by the ideas of disappointment, neglection, and rejection.  This poem may seem like a "downer" but, it is actually supposed to create a sense of strength, determination, and a new outlook on life and the meaning of happiness.  It's ment to make the reader feel empowered and to enable them to hear the underlining voice with in the words.  Any feedback will be greatly apreciated.  I hope you like it!

Poem: Going Against the Wind

I can put up with these headaches,
I can handle the pain,
But the heart aches and breaks you caused me,
Has led me insane.

I've struggled to stay happy,
I've struggled to feel free.
I've struggled to love myself,
When you didn't love me.

I put up a fight,
I know I was right.
I stayed strong,
Maybe you'll realize, that you were wrong.

I've kept on running,
With a smile on my face.
I guess you and I,
Just weren't in the right place.

Your words, they hurt me,
But your actions hurt more.
Now that I'm gone,
I hope you find what you were looking for.

Creative Block

Hola!

Today I am in the process of trying to start creating a poem.  I'm feeling kind of at a loss of words.  There is so much I want to say but, I feel like I can't get my ideas in the right flow of things.  I want to be able to thoroughly express myself and have my voice heard in what I write.  Mr.P gave me a journal today to start brainstorming and jotting all my ideas down on paper.  Hopefully this weekend I will be able to get some of my creative ideas together so I can then edit them into a poem.
This week has been stressful with school and all of these dreadful deadlines and tests that us students have to study for.  I think I might plan to use that frustration and stress as a subject in one of my poems.  The hard part about making poems is saying what you feel or describing what your life is like in this moment in time.  It's certainly not easy and like my teacher, Mr. P said, it won't always be comfortable for us students to put our feelings out there on display.  However, I hope to accomplish this aspect and also allow the reader to be able to imagine or feel what I was feeling during a particular week or time.  Thanks for reading!

Just Getting Started!

Hello readers!

Today I have been conjuring up an idea that I have wanted to do for a long time but I never had enough time to actually go through with it.  I want to write poetry. I think poetry is a very beautiful way to express yourself and what you are feeling without having to come write out and say it. Poetry is like a secret message and if you write it well enough, people will be able to crack the code and understand the situation from a deeper, more meaningful perspective.
I hope that in the next few weeks that I can contribute to writing poems. Not just any poems but, well written ones. I am going to write poems on things that I feel are not only relatable to me but on subjects that are also relatable to other people. I would like to successfully write one poem every 2 weeks.  By the end of the year, I hope to accomplish a set of poems and put them together in a book.  During this process however, I have a family friend, a few actually, who I think may be able to give me some guidance to get at least one of my poems published in a newspaper or something.  I hope to be making progress in the next couple of weeks. I'll keep you posted!
